The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens will host for the fifth year the Kapodistrian Run on Sunday, 26 March 2023. The Kapodistrian Run began in the context of NKUA’s 180th anniversary and has since grown into a successful yearly sporting event held on the University Campus. This Run aims to promote, among other things, health through exercise and is open to students and citizens of all ages and genders as long as they have an interest in physical recreational activities. The 2023 Run has been improved with a new track and an additional category for children.
Three different categories will be available:
The new track was developed to be 2,000 m long, beautiful, with minimal elevation change and located on Campus. It is indicated in the graphic below and further described at this link: Course map
ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE
Eligibility to register and participate in the races of the event have runners who exercise regularly and runners with a lower weekly physical activity. Participants in the 10 km race must be 16 years of age or older (born in 2007 or earlier). There is no age limit for the 4 km walking route. The 1,000 m road race is open to Primary School children.
MEDICAL EXAMINATION
All participants enter and compete AT THEIR OWN RISK. The event organizers accept no responsibility for any health issues that may arise from poor standards of preventive medical care.

REGISTRATION PERIOD AND DEADLINES
NB The registration system will close on March 22nd, 2023, at the latest, unless adult participation reaches the limit of 500 places earlier. Allotment of available spots will be on a strict first-come, first-served basis.
The deadlines will be strictly adhered to for organizational purposes.
Anything not provided for in this announcement shall be left to the discretion of the Technical Officials and the Competition Director.
The University Campus Health Service and a team of volunteer doctors from NKUA will oversee the medical coverage of the event.
REGISTRATION FEE
The fee for the 10 km road race and the 4 km walking route is five (5) euros. 1,000 m road race for children is free of charge.
RACE HEADQUARTERS
Participants must collect their bib numbers from the Race Headquarters, i.e., the University Campus’s indoor sports arena, on Sunday, 26 March 2023, from 08:00 to 09:30 a.m.
The event will be held under the rules of the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS). Race timing will be carried out electronically. The track will be a 2,000-metre loop, starting and finishing at the University Campus. An aid station will be available in the 10 km race every 2 km. Volunteers will be at the aid station and the start/finish line, ensuring the event runs smoothly.
